Visiting Antique Shops and Antiquarians at Tampere

It's quite a while ago that Magda of [Mute the Silence] asked me to go take pics of the local antique shops here in Finland. So I went to poke few of my favorites and here they are.

First one here is antique shop Vanha Lady (transl. Old Lady) which is indeed kept by an old lady. Very talkative person and if I had spend there any more time I would have definitely ended up buying something...! The place is filled with all sorts of small things from jewelry to kitchen ware. There are also some chandeliers and seats here and there in the small shop. My favorites were the book holders (my artbooks so need, but my wallet so do not want) and the chandeliers.

Visit Old Lady at Hallituskatu 17, 33200 Tampere, Finland.

Second one was a local secondhand shop that many of you may have encountered in this blog already, for I often report finding nice things from there. That is Kaunotar and Kulkuri (transl. Lady and the Tramp). While they have a lot of casual clothing, there is also always something black, and usually good number of cute shoes. And some retro clothes, if you fancy that. If you are lucky you may also find some well known brands from them (Michael Kors boots last time I was there). I usually stop by whenever I go to see my grandparents or the secondhand markets close by. Sorry for the bad pics, but there was a good number of people around and I did my best not to take pictures of them!

Visit Kaunotar ja Kulkuri at Tammelan puistokatu 34, 33100 Tampere, Finland.

Thirdly we have my favorite antiquarian book store, the local chest of wonders, Lukulaari (not going to translate that). This store has two floors filled from floor to ceiling with piles of books, from history to comics, from fantasy to dictionaries. The books come in many languages, mostly Finnish and English though, but Swedish as well, and I think I have seen some in Russian and German. They also have a good selection of comics (incl. manga), CDs, DVDs and LPs. And magazines. And as all the shops of secondhand books the place first looks like a total chaos but it is nicely organized to genres and you can make really good finds from here. Also the prices are kind to students, not to mention that they take in a lot of books, if you find yourself with some you would like to depart with!

Find Lukulaari at Puutarhakatu 23, 33210 Tampere, Finland.

I wanted to get another antique shop on this post too, and since my second favorite place closed during the summer I rather randomly stepped in Wanha Wiljami (transl. Old Wiljami ( or Wilhelm, if you want)). They had mostly some bigger wooden furniture of the old Finnish style, but what I liked were the selection of all sorts of door handles, old keys etc. I was a bit shy here because the owner started to talk, so I didn't dare to shoot around with my camera that much...

Wanha Wiljami can be found at Hämeenpuisto 25, 33100 Tampere, Finland.

Also good places to visit at Tampere, that I didn't include to this post are
Tarina secondhand shop / secondhand market at Laukontori 4, 33200 Tampere, Finland.
PLT secondhand market (with furniture) at Sammonkatu 64, 33540 Tampere, Finland.
and the local Fidas, which too have now and then been seen on my bought-few-things -posts.

Would you have liked to see photos from those places too? Because I don't mind sneaking around, if that is the case.

As for other things
been reading old science magazines (Tieteen Kuvalehti), German comics and gathering trophies from Persona 4 Arena. And avoiding school work.. that one portfolio is just desperately late...! And so am I! From sleeping! The lagging Internet connection made this post almost impossible, for it seems the Photobucket was way too heavy. I should just have gone to sleep ;__;.

EDIT: And the fight seemed to be so desperate that I actually went to sleep and now it's 7:36, I got my photos on at last and here you go and here I go, school and dentist awaits!

Mires of Seitseminen And Release the Bats II

Last month I went with our school group to visit a national park, Seitseminen, not so far from here. The autumn had already gotten far enough to have made most of the leaves fall from the trees, but the part we visited was still rather intriguing. We walked through the paths in what I thought a haste, so I didn't get to focus my camera on all the interesting things I saw, but here are some nevertheless.
I'd love to go there again, but it seems the autumn is too full of things. But someone said they'd like to go to poke some national parks at winter, and that sounds beautiful, must remember to remind of those words.

Here is few more photos that I managed to get:

More recently, that is the last Saturday, I attended Club Bella Morte with a number of friends and had some good time dancing. Thanks for taking part to those who were there! It had been in Lumous that I last had attended any clubs so I was a little rusty, haha, but this was a perfect time to go and test the Lip Service's dress combo I had ordered some time ago but hadn't had a good place to wear before.
And yes, I forgot that I had a camera with me until at last hours M reminded me of it, haha... Damn, I would have liked to get pics of all the beautiful people that accompanied me, but by then half of the group had given in for sleep.

Yes, I like to ruin a good flow of photos with the hazy mirrorshots! But I didn't have time to take any outfit pics before the club, and when taking this photo it was something like 4:40, so my eyes couldn't really tell if it was hazy or not at the time! Especially since I had been running all evening without my glasses...

Get Ready For Halloween: Nights 25-31

Haha, the title is a bit off since the month already ended! But here are the movies of the last week of the last month nevertheless!

Night 25

CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (1954)

A geology expedition makes an interesting find in Amazon: a fossilized thing that might be a missing link in the evolution's chain. More researches arrive, but finds nothing. They follow the water to a lagoon, rumoured to be a paradise-like place where no one returns. Of course they go there, but what awaits them there and will they return from Black Lagoon...

After match: Yeap, think of that next time you swim and think someone touched your feet under water.

Night 26

REVENGE OF THE CREATURE (1955)

The Creature survived the first film but is not left alone: a new team comes wishing to capture it. And so they do and they take it with them to a Oceanarium, to be stared at. Well, as if the Creature would stay there nicely...

After match: Well, anyone would be pissed of by that.

Night 27

THE OLD DARK HOUSE (1932)

A rainstorm causes harm somewhere in Wales, making a number of travelers to seek shelter from a old dark mansion, inhabited by old, strange people. They try to make the best of it, but sometimes things tend to go badly...

After match: Be careful when you seek shelter from suspicious mansions.

Night 28

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (1925)

The Paris Opera House gets new managers who are told of the ghost that lives in it. They laugh it off at first but then the first letters from the Phantom arrive, demanding a certain beautiful singer to be given the best roles, and if not bad things will follow.

After match: You know the story, so I kept it short. Oh. And lovely music, lovely movie. The epic over-acting was fun too, as you see, this too was a silent film.

Night 29

MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE (1932)

Strange deaths of young ladies occur in 19th Paris, they are filed down as deaths by drowning, but in truth there is a mad scientist on lose. As a young pair visits a carnival, the murderer gets his eyes on a new target.

After match: You have no idea how much fun it is writing about horror with R-key working only half of the time, haha. And the movie was, err... was. Now which movie do we think about when speaking of big apes kidnapping ladies...

Night 30

THE BLACK CAT (1934)

Newlyweds Peter and Joan Alison are visiting Hungary for their honeymoon. In train they meet Dr Verdegast. They also share a bus later which crashes and they all seek shelter from a house of Mr Poelzig, who Dr Verdegast knows from the times of war and before. But there is a dark side to their history and it's time to sort things out...

After match: Answers to question "if Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff fought, who would win".

Night 31

THE CAT AND THE CANARY (1927)

A rich man dies, leaving behind a testament that is to be opened but twenty years after his death. When the family arrives to hear the testament, it appears that the envelope has been broken and someone knows what it says. The bad weather traps them all in the mansion and it is said that there are ghosts and mad murderers on lose...

After match: That was fun! Oh, and it was a silent film, so dialogue was presented in text screens, and that was awesome.

Whew, all done!
Now, I hope everyone enjoyed Halloween?

As for other things, have been playing Guild Wars 2, watched Sword Art Online (aww) with sis and started Attack On Titan (Oh my!), went to see Thor: The Dark World (AND TOTALLY LIKED IT) and ate a large amount of sushi. Now must go get ready, must go somewhere still today, even though it feels like late evening of Sunday...
