Anne Yvonne Gilbert

Well, you know how I love eBay? I totally do. Here is one of my new treasures that rolled home with help of eBay some while ago. It's Dracula version by Nicky Raven, illustrated by Anne Yvonne Gilbert. And what follows of this is some little things I found out about the illustrator.
For I totally bought this book because of it's pictures. *cough*

Anne Yvonne Gilbert

Anne Yvonne Gilbert is an illustrator who was born in UK, studied at Newcastle's College of Art and Liverpool College of Art. After apparently spending some time on the lecturing business, she became a free-lancer illustrator in 1978. And what a good decision that was, for since she has been creating remarkable and awarded illustrations. While her book illustrations are adored by many, also her original pieces are sold to galleries and private collections.

I find her style very interesting, full of details and often rich of colors. I came by her work as I somehow ran into this book, Dracula, while strolling around the shady alleys of Internet. And when I saw her illustrations, I knew that I had to get this book. So to eBay I went, and few weeks later I had the privilege of studying Gilbert's work up close. I would have preferred that the book itself had been the original text, instead of being written a-new "to the younger audience", for I find the original as a very interesting text indeed. But the illustrations make up for that for sure!

Visit the artist sites to find out more about her and of how to get your hands on her works:

Imaginaerum Is Coming

Welcome Mari! Awesome to have you around too!

I and two of my friends are going to be there.
We are going to be amongst the first to see Imaginaerum. I can't wait.
A huge concert, one of a kind movie. I wouldn't miss this for the World.

Wops it's late again! I'm skipping to sleep for now.

Speed Sewing

I made a dress to my sis for Tracon, and since the request came a bit late, I needed to sew it fast. And I did, in about 2-3 days. Tried a few new things like shirring, and it and the rest of the dress ended up alright.

The pictures were taken in equal hurry, in order to get it out for a test drive, so I can't say they'd be any good. But I suppose you can manage a dress out of these. And yes, it's a popcorn print.

*cough* The hem's stripes don't seem to be co-operating, but they are straight and of an equal size, I just swirled the holder around and forgot to pay attention..

The darkness is eating the lace but it's there.

Welcome to [Vellamo]! Have fun and play nice~

As for other things... Aside of gaming Okami and reading The Game Of Thrones, I have screwed up my sleeping times. And not sleeping well does bring the mood down. So I better go to sleep now, and tomorrow I don't need to wake up to a ring of an alarm clock.

Tracon 7

I'm just doing a really small posting, really fast, yes yes, then to sleep. Yes, yes.

Last weekend it was Tracon time! I attended it with the company of my cutie sister [Giko], on whose blog you can check our weekend's program in a bit more detailed listing and see some photos of cosplayers etc.

The theme this year was the World's end, since it's year 2012 after all. The program gave us very clever information for how it might happen and how one might survive it. Very practical. Very. While on that we also got to listen a piano concert of Zelda music, saw more and less epic cosplayer's and watched a good load of things all in all. We also got to play mahjong first time for a year, and maybe we will go and check the local mahjong group [Tenpai] for it is a rather fun game indeed. If I find this game from somewhere with a clever price I might drag it home with me too.

I saw a good amount of familiar faces during the weekend. It was nice to see you/them all, and hopefully we will run to each others soon again!

That's how I looked for Saturday. Sorry for the bad quality photo again, we had bjds with us and handling a camera while carrying a bjd isn't exactly the best idea ever. Sadly. (And my arm hurt the next day! My own fault, who said I must take one of the heaviest with me...)

The Black Top Hat & Shoes - Secondhand // Long Gilet - Moi Meme Moitie // Shirt & Cross & Pinstripe Pants - Random // Crow Ring - Glitter

Busted! It's the end of the first day and we were kinda beat, but this is one of the only pics I had of her~
And that dress was a pile of fabrics three days before the first con day. More of that in the next post, mhehe.

Where I walk, there is also food. Saturday's meal was very healthy and nutritious. Very.

On Sunday we woke kinda tired and badly late. So we took it easier with the clothes this time. And still no proper outfit photo, cough cough.

Long Black Jacket & Shirt - Secondhand // Long Pinstripe Vest & Long Black Scarf - Off brand // Pants - F+F (not that uou can see them, but...) // Pocket Watch - Gift // Skull Cross Necklace - GinaTricot

I just have to include this! In live it's huge and the color is in fact rather dark with greenish hue. The lightning and the camera killed it though. But still. Can I have that next to my PlayStation?!

More food! This time we are eating at Wrong Noodle Bar. The food there is really good and I look forward to visiting them in the future too! Especially so now that Hanabi, Tampere's only ramen restaurant is no more. Sigh, I really liked Hanabi a lot..

I kept the shopping in minimum, but when I saw the art book of Blade Of The Immortal I just didn't find it in me to put it back to the table it was sold on.

Have some art book love:

Now, do one have to go to sleep immediately or can I read few more pages of The Game Of Thrones...?

E Nomine

First of all, welcome [Spookyfox]! I'm looking forwards to read your blog too~

And the following text I wrote at work one evening, for I had some extra time at hand:

For a change; music. E Nomine is one of my favorites. Just in case some of you haven't heard of it, but need it in your lives. So here we go.

E Nomine

The name derives from Latin "In Nomine", which means "In The Name Of". This musical project combines techno/trance music to the Gregorian singing and chanting. Very epic sounding musical atmospheres. If I'm allowed to say, and quite unique, and those are all very good reasons to like them.
This musical project originates from German and it was formed in 1999. Behind it are two producers, Christian Weller and Friedrich Graner. As addition to these two there has been a number of German voice-actors voicing the vocal parts.
If the project is still on or not is more or less unclear. After a long pause, new material was published in 2008, but only as a downloadable version due some problems with the publisher. It's also seven years since their official websites were updated, and Mr Graner has left the group as well. Even if E Nomine has come to it's end, it has released a nice amount of material so far. And such fine material that is~

As for other things, before I'm off to sleep, here is [a huge pile of game talk] since I completed Final Fantasy XIII. Yup. Nights!
