A Beret With A Ribbon - Tutorial

It's time to get rid of some leftover fabrics again!
As it happens, all that blue fabric wasn't spend on the winter jacket featured earlier in the blog. The texture of the fabric seemed to resemble somewhat the one in my red beret, so I thought "why not" and here is what followed:

A Beret with A Ribbon Tutorial

You will need:

First cut two round pieces of which, make another one in a doughnut. The doughnut is the bottom and the solid round is the top.
Now when you are cutting the bottom, be sure to make the inner circle big enough for your head to fit through. But if you make it too big the hat might have some problems on staying on your head. Using a stretching fabric might be a good idea, but not ultimately necessary.

Pin the inner circle of the bottom and sew, so that we will get a nice, clear entry.

This is an optional thing, for this will become a ribbon to the top of the beret. You may go and skip this part if you wish or do other kind of decorating if you'd like to, like sewing laces all around.

Anyway, for those, who want their beret with a ribbon:
cut a big rectangle out of your fabric.

How big?

About this size when compared to the top part of the beret.

Turn the long sides around with pins and sew them.

Cut a smaller rectangle out of the fabric.
Because we are doing a left-over-reuse here, you might choose to cut this out of the bottom part's out cut inner circle, which is about the right size in length.

Take the big rectangle and squeeze it from middle. Looking like a ribbon, right? Pin down, so the shape won't escape.

Take the small rectangle and pin it into the center of the big one. While pinning it on, turn the sides (the pic above) to get a clean looks. Sew it on.

Take the top piece and pin your ribbon on it. Sew.

Back to the obligatory part.
Take the bottom part and put it on the top part. Remember to put the pieces right sides inside.
Pinned it down? Good, time to sew them on them others.

After sewing, pull the inside to outside and...

You are ready! Whoohoo!
In theory you should have a nice hat now, mine looks like a prototype that it is, but do forgive the child for its imperfections.

*cough**cough* How handsome.
At least I don't need to wonder what to do with it this time since Miss J already volunteered in giving it a home.

I found myself still with some of this fabric, but my sister saved me from further headache and dropped her bjd Arisa to me and told to make her a jacket. So I did.

The fabric is a bit thick for such a small doll, but it was nice thing to make and pretty fast. And didn't turn out all that bad, as you can see from the pics on [Giko's] blog.

As for other things...
I finished playing Shin Megami Tensei's Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs The Soulless Army, of which I made a game review in [here]. Still haven't been able to start a finnish game blog, hmm, must see to that during this spring.

Feeling Red

Ooh, three new readers have brought me up to number 66. Thank you and welcome to
[hattaralapsi], [The Countess] and [ernotar]!

Few days ago I finished reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith, 2009) and because of its most delicious sounding idea, I was expecting quite a story, but found myself... not thrilled. Because of that let's have something that will make up to it: epic drama in red.

These are Dior's Haute Couture pieces from 2000, 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2011.
Are you seeing red yet?

Sorry for the huge load of pictures, I just loved them (and more, but I didn't want anyone's computer to explode.)

To see more, please visit these sites where I too was amazed by Dior's pieces:

Crowned Dress And Other Adventures

Hello and welcome to [Enigmatica Gothic] and [Parasitic], have fun!

Hello, hello.
I made a dress. Because the dresses are fun to make. Even though this wasn't exactly my style, it was once again great to turn a pile of fabric into something else. (Well, it IS still a pile of fabric, but that pile has a name now.)

So, err, have few pics:

Uhoh, that tie there. That's usually around my neck. But this dress had to have a belt and suddenly I found my self with no belts whatsoever.

I was supposed not to buy things. Yet I did. I went to a game store.

(And if you think you saw that Mass Effect already, you are quite right, I wanted to include less pics on the entry to the other blog where I babble about games and things. So one thing led to another and...)

The Last Rebellion and Final Fantasy Anthology are in fact something I bought today. Damn. I wasn't planning to and now I need to do some calculating.

Oh, and since I finished Resistance: Fall of Man some time ago, [here you go] for a game talk if that's of interest for you, yup.

As for other things.
I finished Sheckley's The Alchemical Marriage of Alistair Crompton, and started Austen/Grahame-Smith's Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Also last weekend was so much fun, because out of blue Miss A asked me to come over and so I did. It was feezing cold at Helsinki, especially since we decided to ignore the very fact of -20'C and run around in short skirts, ahhahha. Freezing as it can be, but so much fun!
(She also introduced me to this one new game and for Wii Fit. Haha, it was great.)

Have a bad teenage mirror shot:
Why she so prettey? Why me so drunkey-lookin'? Mhahhaha.

In Black And White

Welcomes to [Heecaroo] and [Minttu]. Be as at home *bows*.

Last week I went to meet Sanni SJ from [Talviyö] to model for her school work. It was fun (even though I was a bit nervous, sorry) and she is such a nice person! I hope I was of some use, haha. Here are few pictures from the episode. To see more of her beautiful work visit her blog featured above in the text.

(Yes, yes, my hair is a mess. But it has it's own will, what can I do!)

I got the eleven questions challenge from lady [Sera].
The idea of the challenge is that I answer her 11 questions, then make 11 questions of my own and direct them at 11 new people.
Alright, to work!

1.Your favorite baked goodie? (So fitting question from you S! Haha.)
A hard one, but I'll give my vote to cupcakes. Yup.

2.Your favorite piece of clothing?
Oh my, like one that I own or in general? A long black jacket then. They have a special place in my heart and major part in my closet.

Because they make you look cool?

3.Your favorite make-up thing?
Avon's buttered rum lipstick at the moment. Or Lancome's bright red one. But in most use there is this liquid eyeliner. And I do use a lot of nail polishes...

4.Your favorite character/actor/actress?
Oh my, Johnny Depp and Jason Isaacs and James Marsters. As for character, hmm, too hard! Ryuk and GLaDOS . (Singing karaoke together.) (WHAT?)

One day here, I'll marathon through everything Iscaas plays in!

5.The country you'd like to visit?
UK and Japan are on the top list. Also Germany, France and Italy are not far behind. On G and F I have been, but there is so much to see still.

6.Your hobbies?
There is an endless list of these. Let's go with kung fu, video games, piano playing and reading.

How do you get these inside an apartment?

7.The motto of your life?
I don't have one, but something that will wittily include dreams' and imagination's beauty with living a good and experiencefull life.

8.What kind of child were you?
Lively. I loved to play epic and complex games with my dearest friends. Later in the childhood that I had learned how to read, I often drifted off with my books and video games, especially after everyone started growing out of the childish games. And from those far islands I never returned.

9.Any New Year's Promises?
I did in fact. As a major collector I have been drowning in all kinds of material things here, and my promise was to send 33 of anything to new life. Haha. I made it. Somewhat at least.

10.What would you do with a million euros?
Travel, buy a nice apartment, stock some VW goodies and an enormous pile of games and books. And clothes in general. And eat a lot of sushi and ice cream. I would save some too, maybe.

Ate these some weeks ago at Maruseki with Miss K.

11.Thing that you'd want the most?
A thing as in material things, I take it. ...*chuckle*, Alexander McQueen's monster shoes! And DollShe Bermann.

Hopelessly in love with these. Again a hopeless love! Dammit!

My questions:
1.Your favorite album? (I'm listening music right now, so..)
2.Your goal for year 2012?
3.If you could meet someone you might not meet otherwise, who would that be?
4.Your favorite food? (I'm hungry, what can I say.)
5.Music, books, games, dancing...fencing? Or something else? (Pick just one and explain!)
6.Who do you look up to? (As a person, or as in personal style, as you wish.)
7.Your...favorite smell? (Umm.. I like perfume bottles?)
8.A candle, a fireplace, a sauna, a campfire, a house, which one would you like to see to burn?
9.If you found yourself in a middle of a forest, what would you do?
10.Ever helped an old person across a street?
11.A question you wouldn't want to answer to?

And the challenged are:
Kaino of [Breidholt]
Leena of [Luurankoja Kaapissa]
Mortisia of [Mute The Silence]
Giko the [Satusankari]
Aie of [Pelilasiprinsessa]
Chiina of [Villa De la Morg]
Katrina of [Mun Tuulihatut]
Lygo of [De la Lygo]

And the new fellas, so that I get to know you too
Heecaroo of [Alice on Ice]
Minttu of [Minttupastilleja]

And finally, because I want you to answer mine in exhange! (No, you don't need to do the challenging again xD.)
Sera from [Herkkuja Mahan Täydeltä]

And if you don't feel like challenging 11, do know that that could be written wrong, so tag one?
